The CPFI is recognised by the
Government of India Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.
It enjoys affiliation with the Indian Olympic Association
and is a member of the Asian Cycle Polo Federation as well
as of the International Bicycle Polo Association.
The affairs of the CPFI are managed by a duly elected Executive
Committee for a term of 4 years. A Technical Committee overlooks
all aspects of championships and is responsible to conduct
National championships every year of boys and girls separately
in the under mentioned categories :
Sub Junior -- Age 14 years or below
Junior -- Age 18 years or below
Senior -- Open
The National Championships are held in different states
in India by rotation. All National players are registered
with the Federation and are issued Identity Cards which
entitle them to use facilities extended by the Government
for sports persons.
The Technical committee of the CPFI conducts practical
and written examinations for Umpires and holds a seminar
every 4 years to discuss and upgrade the rules of the game.
The National Institute of Sports in India conducts certificate
courses and holds clinics for the sport of cycle polo.
The game of cycle polo in India derived it's rules from
the game of Horse Polo. In 1970's the CPFI brought in two
major changes in the rules.
Ride off was banned.
A three tap rule was introduced.
